Despite being a dominating global conglomerate, Hearst RISE is an example of Hearst’s commitments to Reinforce Inclusion and Support Equity (RISE), to create an inclusive culture of listening, learning and action through training, education, internships and more. Hearst states that “Diversity strengthens innovation, creativity and collaboration; it is essential to our businesses, our content and our partnerships”

Hearst also believes in conducting good business, taking care of the communities they serve, and looking after their people. They aim to make a difference by reporting on the frontlines, bringing viewers critical information, keeping pharmacists informed, joining together to volunteer at local organisations, and much more. Examples of Hearst’s ideology of “social good” include donating funds and providing free PSA promotions to the American Red Cross in response to the COVID-19 crisis; volunteering with the Coalition for the Homeless, supporting Children’s Aid and many other programmes and efforts to fight food insecurity, and support missions to combat racial and LGTBQ+ injustices, for example.

Hearst Magazine’s is a subsidiary that aims to “inform, entertain and inspire”, with nearly 250 magazine editions and 200 websites around the world. Their magazines and websites cover all things from the latest tech, cycling, cars, fashion, home living, food, beauty, home décor, health, and much more. ‘Seventeen’ is “the ultimate content destination for Gen Z and young millennials celebrating real stories and experiences of a teenager’s life” – a bimonthly teen magazine for 13-to-19-year-old females. This magazine will be similar to mine due to the lifestyle aspect and teenage audience (although my magazine will be 16-25-year-olds).
